A 58 annees, Jean-Denis Deletraz pourrait se la couler douce i  propos des bords du Lac Leman, mais ce serait mal connaitre l’ancien double vainqueur des 24 Heures du Mans dans la categorie LMP675

Lors du recent meeting Historic Dubai Grand Prix Revival, Jean-Denis Deletraz pilotait une Arrows A3 (3e d’la course 1) et une Cougar C28 (4e une course 2) en compagnie de Mathieu Jaminet autour du Dubai Autodrome. De quoi ravir un pilote qui possi?de toujours le sourire au coeur tout d’un paddock.

“C’est toujours un plaisir de rouler sur votre circuit au sein d’ d’aussi bonnes autos”, a declare Jean-Denis Deletraz a Endurance-Info. “Je connais l’equipe GP Extreme depuis bien longtemps. Il existe une vraie histoire d’amitie entre nous sachant en plus que Louis a roule concernant GPX Racing en GT3. Suivre le fils sur les circuits est forcement quelque chose de particulier. Ma passion concernant le sport auto reste restee intacte. J’ai pas mal d’amis qui etaient pilotes de mon temps qui paraissent dorenavant team managers.”

Notre Genevois demeure attentif a Notre carriere de son fils Louis qui roulait Afin de Team WRT cette annee en European Le Mans Series chez Team WRT avec le titre a la cle, puis la terrible desillusion du Mans dont tout un chacun se souvient.

“Le timing pour voir Louis en Endurance reste parfait”, precise-t-il. “En rejoignant Team WRT, three day rule il est au sein d’ une tres bonne equipe. Apres la Formule 2, il a su rebondir en Endurance avec la maturite necessaire pour progresser. Dans les prochaines annees, c’est la ou il faudra etre. Louis a toujours aime l’Endurance, Enfant, il adorait les prototypes et nos GT. Il a retrouve le sourire de piloter ainsi que pouvoir se battre devant, dans une competition saine bien differente une monoplace.”

Dans la famille Deletraz, les 24 Heures du Mans tiennent une place a part. “Mes plus grands souvenirs au Mans ne semblent souvent pas nos meilleurs moments”, se souvient avec le sourire Jean-Denis. “En 2001, il a beaucoup seduit. Je roulais sur une Reynard 2KQ LM en LMP675 avec Pascal Fabre et Jordi Gene. Au milieu en nuit, j’etais trempe dans le baquet et J’me suis dit : “mais qu’est ce que je fais ici ?” J’ai alors appele a la radio Afin de savoir si Jordi etait pret. Pas de bol, il dormait, donc il a fallu continuer en piste. J’ai victoire de categorie est au bout. C’est ca le sport et une fois le damier franchi, revenir l’annee suivante reste la priorite.”

En aout soir, l’ancien pilote ROC au Mans retrouvait le grand circuit sarthois pour disputer Road to Notre Mans concernant une Audi R8 LMS GT3 alignee via Team WRT avec Charles Weerts a ses cotes. Le tandem a commande la 3e place une course 2. En 2009, Jean-Denis Deletraz disputait le FIA GT3 via une Audi R8 LMS engagee par Phoenix Racing.

“Rouler au Mans n’etait absolument jamais prevu”, explique le Suisse.

“Vincent (Vosse) m’a appele juste quelques jours avant le meeting. Ce n’etait nullement raisonnable car cela fera un moment que je n’avais plus pilote de GT3, mais rouler au Mans ne se refuse jamais. Mes GT3 ont clairement progresse, l’electronique a bien change et j’dois dire que l’ABS a pose quelques soucis car je freinais a l’ancienne. Mes jeunes mettent bien 120 bar de pression.”

Sa derniere participation a toutes les 24 Heures du Mans remonte a 2012 via une Lola B12/80 engagee avec Gulf Racing Middle East (avec Keiko Ihara et Marc Rostan, abandon, sortie de piste). De la a revenir sur la grande course, il n’y a qu’un nullement, mais les chances restent minimes : “Je vais avoir 60 annees, nos voitures ont beaucoup change. J’ai passion est intacte mais vous devez aussi la motivation. Je pourrais m’aligner en GTE-Am, mais si je le fais, c’est pour le faire bien. Je n’ai encore pas roule en course avec Louis, aussi par exemple lorsqu’il sera beaucoup etabli en Endurance. Une course ensemble comme nos 24 Heures de Dubai serait cool.”
